What to Do When You Feel Like Giving Up on Your Pain Relief Journey
If you’re on a mind-body healing journey and finding it tough right now—this is for you.
So many people start this pain relief process full of hope and motivation, and then something happens... the high wears off. The journaling gets harder. The meditations feel like they’re not working. Symptoms start creeping back in. Doubt sets in. You wonder: Is this even working for me? Should I just give up?
First off, let me say this loud and clear: you are not alone. This is such a common part of the process.
In today’s video, I share exactly what to do when you hit this wall. Because I’ve been there too—many times. This blog will give you a taste of what I cover, but I highly recommend you click here to watch the full video.
Why People Feel Like Giving Up
The novelty wears off. In the first 1 to 3 months, you’re absorbing loads of new info, trying new tools, and feeling excited. But after a while, that initial buzz fades.
The reality kicks in. Healing is not linear. There are ups and downs. You’ll have great days, and then days that feel like you're back to square one.
Setbacks feel personal. It can feel like you’re doing something wrong when you hit a difficult patch—but you're not. Setbacks are part of the process.
Life happens. A stressful life event or change can pull you away from the healing work.
Here’s What to Do When That Happens
Lean on Community. This one is massive. Healing in isolation is HARD. Whether you're in my programme or just found this on YouTube, find support. If you’re part of our Pain Relief Community, check in and let us hold space for you.
Recognise It’s Meant to Be Hard. We get pain in the first place because we don’t allow ourselves to feel discomfort. So yeah, it’s meant to be hard sometimes. That doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It means you’re on the path.
Validate Every Emotion. Doubt, despair, confusion—all of it is welcome. We don’t bypass those feelings here. We learn to let them be. That’s what teaches our nervous system safety.
Go Back to Basics. If it all feels overwhelming, don’t scrap the whole process. Scale it down. Shorter meditations. Re-watch the early lessons. Ask a question in the community. Reset.
Take a Break If Needed. Seriously. If you’re burnt out, step back. Recalibrate. Then return when you're ready. You haven’t failed. You’re human.
There is no shame in feeling like giving up. There is only honesty, courage, and the chance to keep going in a way that actually honours your nervous system.
If you're not yet part of the support system I mention in the video, come join us in the Pain Relief Community. You don’t have to go through this alone.
